Benedict XVI: We need a pedagogy of peace

Peace is a global right, founded upon respect for human dignity, religious liberty, marriage, labour, and the well-being of individuals and nations. This was at the heart of Pope Benedict XVI’s Message for the World Day of Peace, on the theme «Blessed are the peacemakers,» which was presented today at the Vatican. Pope Benedict proposes the development of an authentic pedagogy of peace. We must renounce that false peace promised by the idols of the world, and the dangers that accompany it. This false peace leaves consciences ever more insensible, leading to a withdrawal into oneself, to an atrophied existence lived in indifference.
